Who are the
1st flotilla Overton Midget Submarine
Corp
?

For your young ‘touring’ players we have formed the 1st flotilla Overton Midget Submarine Corp as a result of collaboration between The Overton Underground Camel corp. (the veterans touring team), and Neuvic Rugby Club (Dordogne France). Back in Easter 2001 our visitors from France were so impressed at the standard of Rugby played at Overton that they invited the minis to visit the Dordogne the following year, there began the OMSC, Easter 2002 .
As this venture into unknown territory, the minis enlisted the assistance of the world famous Underground camel corp. for operation Infiltrate and Irritate. Departing from Overton the corp. traveled to Neuvic where they stayed at the local chateaux which would remained their base for the whole tour.

Many of the key officers were lured andtrapped in the
club bar it was felt that the full force of the corp must be
used to secure ‘Le bar’.

"Head of RFU Joins ORFC Midget Submarine Corp"
I am extremely pleased to announce that the president of the RFU, Mr Leroy Angel has accepted the position of "Honouree Commander of the Fleet (Overton Midget Submarine corp.).
Mr Angel already a member of the Camel Corp will take up the position from the start of the 2 006-7 season said "I am extremely pleased to take up this position on the condition that I don't have to play as I believe the players would show me up"
Leroy played in Winchester's first XV for some 600 appearances until retiring with a knee injury aged 33, and was club captain from 1973 to 75. He also played county rugby for Hampshire, the first County Championship match being against Sussex in 1968, which Hampshire won, and the last against Eastern Counties in 1976, which Hampshire lost. With 26 caps, he became the most capped Hampshire threequarter since World War II.

Mission “Infiltrate and Irritate”
Dear crew member,
Now our feet are firmly back on dry land it’s time for debrief.
Whilst we have all returned safely, including young Mst Hodgson, Who over the past week end has done his utmost to escape, we have not been totally successful in our mission. The mission objective was to “Infiltrate and irritate”.
The first part we have done extremely well, including the storming and taking of the “Fireplace” by our smaller members. Infiltration into Le Pompier corp (The fire brigade) by most ratings, most times, under the cover of darkness, from the bridge, they successfully raised the level of the river by several inches. One crewmember was brave enough to carry out this manoeuvre during daylight, under the gaze of a picnicking couple on the back.
The more mature members of the crew have done their dandiest to remove all the alcohol from the bar by means of consumption, several of the team also attempted Eau de vie, brave soles indeed. As far as the “Irritate” objective goes, we have failed, achieving only a count of two, those being the coach drivers who we believe had had their sense of humour and customer service glands removed. Both the French and British have been extremely positive and complimentary about the corp. As you witnessed Keith Coomber a well respected tourist and members of the camel Corp, said they are a credit to the Corp. We understand that he had been on manoeuvres all day, however, having maintained the power of speech we have to believe this was a compliment.
The French have also been impressed at the discipline, friendliness and behaviour, both on and of the pitch. I don’t need to recount the conversations as if you haven’t already been complimented by them, you are in dereliction of duty for not being in the bar whilst on tour.
Untill next time your are dismissed

Mission re-float the boat
106 is the incredible number of children, coaches and parents going on the Overton Rugby Club mini section tour of Holland at Easter. With the men’s XV going as well, there will be some 120 going Dutch and the Mayor of Valkenswaard, host of the tour, has asked if there is going to be anyone left in Overton! The tour is a biennial event with an international rugby festival taking place at Overton in the intervening years. DeVets Rugby Club from Valkenswaard come and play at the FestOval and arranged the tour. An action packed weekend will include games at Etten-Leur on the way out and a tournament with eight other local clubs. Yet more rugby is planned on Easter Sunday with time for an Easter egg hunt and a visit to a pancake house.
Gary Millar, Overton’s Coaching Co-ordinator said, “It is an amazing feat for such a small club to be able to send so many off on this tour. It will be a real experience for our younger players and I am most grateful for the support of all the parents and sponsors without whom the tour could not go ahead.”
