ORFC Men's Player Profiles 2007/2008
Adam ( Guns ) Mcleod
Chris ( and all the girlies said im pretty fly for a white guy ) Bond
38
Anywhere
Chris is the youngest of the fourmidable four and it has to be said that he's probably the prettiest too. Chris gives 100% all of the time on the pitch and off. He can play in many positions but as of late is finding that he frequently needs to stop for a refreshing beverage during the game.
Andy ( look at my abs ) Bond
40ish
Anywhere
Andy has been with the club for many years and has been in most positions throughout his term of service, he often makes devastating breaks through the defence and then claims that it is down to his well defined stomach area, which can normally be seen on show in the bar.
Paul ( Skins ) Bond
40ish
Anywhere
Paul has been with the club for many years and has played in nearly every position, his attitude towards rugby is all about winning but having fun. Paul has great motivation skills and is someone who gives all, especially where he's diving off the bar - naked!
Christopher ( T-Bird ) Salmon
22
Front Row
Chris joined overton last year and made a valuable contribution to the squad. He is a strong player all round and likes to contribute verbally. Chris believes that all his rugby is sexy just like his hair - we know different.
Gavin ( Kick Ass ) Plows
40
Front Row
Gavin has the ability to locate a gap despite his large presence. His Birmingham accent can be heard across the pitch on most days encouraging the younger members of the team. He is a consistant performer always giving 100%. His motto is that he's a grower not a show-er.
James ( The Man ) Mountain
27
Centre
James has outstanding side stepping abilities, is very athletic and also loves the challenge of larger opposition. He more often than not ends up on his back where his mysterious triangle of hair lays. The search for the truth continues.
Alan ( Grandad ) Cornell
Too old to mention
Centre
Alan is the club captain but still at his age is still an accomplished sports competitor, although he cant keep the pace up for as long anymore, his contribution whilst on the field is noticeable, regularly making big hits on the opposition. He is the oldest member of the squad and hence we salute you " Sir Grandad"
Simon ( I'm off on holiday ) Cox
20
Winger
Simon joined us last year and started off in the 2's but has made considerable progress in the pre-season, his effort (when he's about) is fantastic, his attitude is very good and has a surprising turn of pace given the space. Given all the time away he has no tan! Where have you been?
Michael ( Bambi ) Shepherd
22
2nd row/Back row
Mike is a guy within the squad who just never leaves you. He’s always there ready to make the next offload, breakdown or tackle, despite his bambi look about him he is surprising strong and will continually pump his pistons even where murdo's been round the night before.
Darren ( Dazwad ) Barton
22
Scrum Half
Darren joined at the same time as Adam and has suffered set backs due to injury, Daz is now an integral part of the squad and often likes to mix it up with the big boys despite being 5ft 6. Daz has a solid pass, good step and likes the eastern part of Europe.
23
Back Row
Adam joined us 3 yrs ago and has developed into a strong, fit and very competitive individual, he is able to make most breakdowns (on and off the pitch). He likes to parade around like Elvis but with guns instead of a guitar. His quiff is legendary and claims to have good moves (but we haven't seen any yet)
Chris ( The Caveman ) Cave
23
Winger
Chris joined us last season and has continued to develop his skills, he always puts the effort in and has a surprising turn of pace, one never to shy from a big hit, although Chris is a refined guy and like the wine he drinks, will be hoping he gets better with age. Never the first to finish a drink.
Dave ( Butterfingers ) Clarke
24
Winger
Dave has tremendous pace and often creates great running lines when in attack using his trademark chicken step to beat defenders, he's one that never shy's from a tackle and if only he could catch more often he would score more often (on and off the pitch)
John ( The Dragon ) Baker
34
Winger/Centre
John is the one of the oldest in the backs who always puts 100% in to maintain standards with the up and coming stars, he regularly turns up with the youngsters on a night out and this is also where his level head is well appreciated. John is welsh (not a wizard) and red haired (to john strawberry blonde)
Dan ( Iceman ) Williams
26
Fly Half
Dan is one of the longer serving members of the squad and has improved with age, he has strong running abilities along with good hands and the ability to take a hit (which happens regularly) He has got his name from his ability to remain calm in front of the posts.
Francois (The Bok) Stoop
27
Centre
Francois is a member of the squad who suffered an injury last year but signs are showing that our resident South African is returning to form (a little heavier) but quite literally has a spring in his step and just as back home he hits anything he can catch like a freight train.
Ryan (Ragga) Cornell
20
Back Row
Ryan is one of the younger members of the 1st team, is highly charged with energy and full of running. He is a strong, dyanmic runner and is willing to hit anything that moves - even a brick wall if he's had enough the night before or a train.
Jay (Pee quick) Jones
20
Scrum half
Jay is again one of the younger members of the squad who joined last year, he is extremely fast with his feet and often likes to mix it with the big boys even though he's only 5ft 4. Another one who can never say no to more drink and frequently finds everything he drank the night before - under himself.
